Welcome to Local News Publications
Local News Publications publish four magazines, Centenary News, The Lake News, The Local News and The Greater Springfield Times, which are used to provide coverage to smaller geographical areas.
Our goal is to foster community spirit and provide all businesses with an effective advertising medium for reaching new customers.
The total coverage of the papers is to over 30 suburbs, south of the Brisbane CBD and delivered direct to homes and businesses. This allows you to target the local area best suited to you and your business.
If you are looking to increase your local sales, our publications, with a combined distribution of over 45 000 and a potential readership of at least 100 000, will provide you with a powerful advertising tool.
Each publication contains feature articles with local content and activities. Including a page specifically dedicated to local community groups and their contact details helps to ensure a long shelf life – with many readers retaining their copies for ongoing reference.
Each magazine is distributed monthly, with staggered delivery dates. For further details see the information page of the individual publications (top banner).
A brief history
Local News Publications began fifteen years ago, with the inception of The Lake News. Started in Forest Lake by Chris and Betty Wren in response to a need in the community for a ‘newsletter’, The Lake News has gone from strength to strength and is now very much ‘owned’ by the Forest Lake community as a whole.
The Centenary News, The Local News and The Greater Springfield Times, emerged at roughly two year intervals and are all embraced by their respective areas, ensuring a large readership and usage in their communities.
Owners, Graham and Susannah Friis (daughter of Chris and Betty Wren), having been employed by Local News Publications from the beginning, bought the business in July 2006 and are determined to take Local News Publications well into the future, using the firm foundation of the past as a springboard.
